Port Stephens’ locals, visitors, village residents and their guests all received a warm ‘Blueys welcome’ at ‘A Taste of Medowie’, the special event hosted at retirement village, Blueheath at The Bower in Medowie, to celebrate the grand opening of the multi-million dollar clubhouse and facilities.
The free event showcased the best of Blueheath and its surrounds. Residents and visitors enjoyed live music from band Soul Traders, the opportunity to sample tasty local treats from Medowie Macadamias, Murray’s Craft Brewing, Boydell’s Wines, Medowie Yumi Sushi, Medowie Meats and more. Activities on the day included an art class led by art teacher Nikki Carter from Senoritas Art Workshop, the chance to watch members of the Raymond Terrace Men’s Shed at work and see live cooking demos from local chef Ben Ginty from The Iron Door Catering.
The event also offered visitors a glimpse of retirement living at Blueheath with feedback from event attendees very positive. David Kelly, Operations Manager, comments, “People’s reactions were great, they were so impressed! We know that Blueheath offers a fantastic retirement lifestyle. It’s the full package with our top-quality homes without any home maintenance, the wonderful Blueys community, the location and now people can really see what our clubhouse can offer them. There’s a heated indoor pool, a bowling green, a fully equipped senior friendly gym and lots of space to enjoy time as a community and with family friends. We can’t wait to make the most of this beautiful venue, starting with our Christmas celebrations. It’s going to be a Christmas to remember!”
Kelly continues, “We’re delighted with the feedback from the day - some of our visitors have already decided they would like to live in the village!”. Interest in homes at Blueheath has remained high however there are some opportunities to secure a home in the village next year – just in time to celebrate Christmas 2023 in the beautiful clubhouse!
